Keizer’s homegrown photographer, Gregg Newton, is returning home to share his thoughts and photos for the first time. From his beginnings at McNary High School’s student newspaper ‘The Piper’ to a globe-trotting career as a photojournalist, his work has been published in most of the world’s largest magazines and newspapers throughout the past four decades.
Inspired by the community service of his parents, Bob and Marion Newton (Bob served as an original city Councilman in 1982 and Keizer Mayor from 1999 to 2001), Gregg wants to inspire youth and others to pursue their dreams, by sharing some of the many dramatic moments in time that he has recorded.
Gregg will also attend the KeizerFEST and have large photo prints selected from his photograph archive for purchase – all proceeds will benefit the Keizer Cultural Center.
May 15-18 – Gregg’s dates and times to be scheduled later.

Note: The Newton family lived next to Wilark Park – now named Bob Newton Park in honor of Gregg’s father and former Keizer Mayor

The park land was donated in two parcels in June 1961 and July 1965 by Kenneth and Anna Neilson. The park was conveyed to the City of Keizer in 1983, and renamed Bob Newton Family Park in 2007 in honor of Keizer’s former mayor, who had died the previous year.
