The Keizer Heritage Museum presents
“A Willamette Farmer’s Legacy– Thomas Dove Keizur”
August 3-28, 2026
at the Oregon State Capitol
Join the Keizer Heritage Museum on Monday, August 3 at our opening reception at the Oregon State Capitol! The special event is from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. – all are welcome to attend. Our exhibit will be open Monday-Friday through August 4-28 at the west Galleria of the building.
Immerse yourself in a larger-than-life exhibit of an early Oregon Territory pioneer and learn more of his fellow citizens who established the government in this northwestern land.

Thomas Dove (T.D.) Keizur was an involved resident in the Oregon Territory. Participating in the first Oregon election 180 years ago, serving as a pre-provisional legislator in 1844 and serving as the founding Captain of the Oregon Rangers, Keizur embodied “a person that got involved” in Oregon’s democratic process, which is one of the core narrative goals of the Capitol History Gateway exhibit program.
An interactive website has been created to share Thomas Dove Keizur’s Oregon story and his service in the 1844 government and as first Captain of the Oregon Rangers.
